Health Care Costs – We’re Doomed

We will never get health care costs under control until we start paying the bills ourselves. I don’t care if it’s private insurance or government money, as long as people spend “other people’s money” they will not care about the costs.

If we relied on auto insurance to maintain our cars, oil changes would cost $700, not $21.95.

Something I've noticed... for collision repair/body work on a car... the first question asked-- "Will this be covered by auto insurance or are you paying out of pocket?" If it's the latter they'll work with you to come up with a cost effective solution, if it's the former they'll go all out for you as they know you're only responsible for the deductible. That would indicate to me the truth of your remarks on this issue.

I hear that trading chickens for your co-payment is a viable option at least in Nevada.
